DESCRIPTION

1950 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe: More History Than a Nashville Divorce and Twice the Tail Fin

Let’s lay the cards on the table: this isn’t just a project car, it’s a high-stakes transaction from an era when men made deals with a handshake and a cold beer. Junior Brown—yes, the outlaw king of the double-neck guitar—traded this exact piece of rolling Detroit sculpture to Toby for a 20th Anniversary Fender Stratocaster. If having country music literally baked into the bones of this steel doesn’t get your motor running, you might want to check your pulse.

This '50 Coupe represents the absolute dawn of the GM rocket age. Look at the rear quarters. Those iconic tail fins were inspired straight from the blueprints of the P-38 Lightning fighter plane, designed back when Cadillac wanted you to feel like you were piloting a missile down the interstate. Under that massive hood sits the architecture for the legendary overhead valve V8, an engine built for speed, status, and leaving a trail of broken hearts in the rearview mirror.

Now, she’s clearly survived some wild nights out in the elements. The windshield looks like it took the wrong end of a pool cue during a roadhouse brawl, the roof is wearing an honest layer of Albuquerque surface rust, and the back seat has completely left the building. Up front, she’s currently resting on a pair of chaotic, hot-pink steel wheels that look like they were borrowed from a midnight demolition derby.

But look past the dust. The dashboard is remarkably intact, the factory radio is still waiting to tune into a late-night AM broadcast, and that heavy, chrome front grille is solid enough to plow through a brick wall. Joe, our one-armed mechanic, thinks the body lines are too straight to let the desert claim them, and Dean already calculated exactly how many hours it'll take to get her humming again. This relic is a full-blown blues mobile trapped in a sun-bleached sleep. Bring a flatbed, load her up, and give this legend the second act it deserves.
