THE GHOST'S TAKE
Look at this ghost from the tailfin era. What you are eyeballing is a 14-inch full wheel cover off a 1959 Chevrolet Impala. Back when Detroit was stamping out stainless steel like it was going out of style, these crossed flags meant you were driving the top of the food chain. It fits the big B-body Chevys of the era, including the Bel Air and El Camino. Now, let us talk about the elephant in the room. Some shade-tree mechanic took a drill bit straight to the top edge of this stainless pan so they could hang it on a garage wall. It is a crying shame if you need a flawless set for a concourse restoration, but if you are building a daily driver, a rat rod, or just want some authentic Detroit metal for your own shop wall, it has the right kind of scars. The stainless still holds a decent shine, but that drilled hole means it is strictly driver quality or garage art from here on out.
